My name is Ashley Vanorny and I am asking for your vote November 7, 2017 for Cedar Rapids City Council District 5.
I am a lifelong Cedar Rapidian who learned the value of hard work by helping on the family farm. I graduated from Kirkwood with an AS in Criminal Justice, and also hold a BS in Psychology and a BA in Political Science from the University of Iowa. I am completing my Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration from Des Moines University.
I have always chosen to be a civil servant, from interning with the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit out of the Attorney General's office, to my Pathways internship with the local Social Security Administration field office. I value and seek out ways our government institutions can help out our fellow neighbors.
I take a lot of pride in my advocacy for foster children, low-income families, and celebrating and supporting diversity. My pledge is to be accessible and accountable to the voters of Cedar Rapids, and be your voice at the municipal level.
A NEW GENERATION OF LEADERSHIP
LATEST FROM CAMPAIGN
It’s easy to get frustrated with city government. We all have ideas for little fixes — improvements that could give us that extra ounce of Cedar Rapids pride — yet it often feels like the folks making decisions are distracted by anything but implementing such low-hanging fruit.
